From the onset, my vision was to create a captivating novel that would also provoke deep thought about the symbiosis between humans and the technologies we create. For years, I had carried the seeds of a story in my mind, a narrative rooted in the complexities of human ambition and personal growth. This vision grew and evolved, fueled by my expertise and fascination with the rapidly advancing field of Generative AI.

Embracing the transformative potential of Generative AI in storytelling, I embarked on this ambitious project, collaborating with an advanced Generative AI system. I provided the foundational elements of the story to the AI, which then used its deep learning capabilities to generate rich and engaging content. Together, we forged a unique synergy, with the AI’s quick idea generation enabling me to focus on refining and enriching the story.

🤖 Are you embarking on the journey to build your own large language model (LLM) chatbot using your own content? Harness the power of Google’s Vertex AI Generative AI Studio and Lang Chain!

Google Vertex AI Generative AI Studio provides access to a suite of generative AI models. This tool enables you to test, fine-tune, and deploy these models, enhancing the performance of your AI applications.

One of the key features of Vertex AI is the Pathways Language Model API (PaLM API). The PaLM API provides access to Google’s LLMs, which can generate text and code in response to natural language prompts. These models are fine-tuned for a range of tasks, such as classification, summarization, entity extraction, multi-turn chat, semantic search, recommendation, classification, outlier detection, and code generation.

When dealing with large volumes of text, you can adopt various techniques to manage context effectively:
➢ Stuffing: A straightforward approach where the entire document is used as context. However, it can be inefficient for larger documents.
➢ Map-Reduce: This approach splits documents into smaller chunks and processes them in parallel, offering improved efficiency but with increased complexity.
➢ Refine: This technique involves running an initial prompt on a small chunk, generating an output, and refining the output based on new document content. It’s more efficient than Map-Reduce but less direct.
➢ Map-Reduce with Similarity search: This is the most complex yet efficient method. It involves creating embeddings of smaller chunks and conducting vector similarity searches to find relevant context.

LangChain, a Python package designed for natural language processing tasks, effectively uses these techniques for question-answering over large documents. By combining the capabilities of the Vertex AI PaLM API with LangChain, you can create an efficient, robust question-answering system capable of processing and extracting valuable information from extensive volumes of text.

How do you bring external data to Chat GPT-4? This question has been a focal point for many users seeking to enhance their Generative AI experience. As someone who wanted an easy interface to query my book contents, I found the answer in the newly enabled Plugin Store for GPT-4.

One of the many tools now available is the PDF Importer. This plugin allows users to upload PDF documents and integrate the contained data directly into the GPT-4 environment. Once uploaded, the static text becomes interactive content, enabling users to ask specific questions, request summaries, and delve deeper into the data.

But the PDF Importer is just one of the many tools available in the Plugin Store. Google’s Bard AI Chatbot is now available in #India and 180+ countries. How does it compare with GPT-4?

Bard is a powerful Generative AI tool that can help you with a variety of tasks, including:

  • Answering your questions in an informative way, even if they are open-ended, challenging, or strange.
  • Generating different creative text formats of text content, like poems, code, scripts, musical pieces, emails, letters, etc.
  • Translating languages.
  • Writing different kinds of creative content.

Difference between Bard and GPT-4
Bard is a large language model from Google AI, trained on a massive dataset of text and code. It is able to access and process information from the real world through Google Search, which means that its responses are always up-to-date. For example, if you ask Bard, “Provide the weather for Mumbai today and suggest places to visit considering the temperature,” it will be able to give you the current temperature and forecast and suggestions based on it.

GPT-4, on the other hand, is a language model from OpenAI that is trained on a massive dataset of text. It does not have access to the real world (only available in alpha via plugins to limited users), so its responses are based on the information that it was trained on. This means that its responses may not always be up-to-date. For example, if you ask GPT-4, “What is the weather like in Mumbai today?”, it will provide you the response - “ I don’t have real-time data access.

Here are a few tips and tricks for using Bard:

  • Be as specific as possible when you ask Bard a question. The more information you provide, the better Bard will be able to understand your request.
  • Use natural language when you interact with Bard. Bard is trained on a massive dataset of text and code, so it is able to understand and respond to natural language queries.
  • Refine and reiterate your prompts for proper results.
  • Experimental - Bard is still under development, so it may not always be able to answer your questions perfectly. Be aware of the limitations.

2️⃣ Containerize Your Applications: Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for application containerization, which standardizes environments, reduces system overhead, and ensures application portability.
3️⃣ Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Manage and provision your tech stack using tools like Terraform and Ansible. This ensures environment consistency, eliminates manual configuration, and speeds up recovery during failures.

Google Cloud “Generative AI Studio” is now open for public preview. This platform offers a user-friendly interface to design prompts - the text inputs that guide an AI model’s responses. It offers a chat-like experience, making AI interaction accessible to non-developers.

Users can fine-tune the system to go beyond simple chat responses, such as adjusting the ‘temperature’ to control the balance between accuracy and creativity in responses. The platform also includes a ‘Prompt Gallery’, featuring a wide range of pre-set prompts for users to choose from.
