Docker Swarm or kubernetes - My first production deployment of kubernetes was in 2016. We were evaluating whether to use Docker Swarm or kubernetes. The devOps processes and container managed solutions were still evolving. Sharing an article from 2016, where I had summarised Kubernetes vs Docker Swarm and why Kubernetes was the choice of platform.

Kubernetes has come a long way and made things simplified, being adopted by all cloud providers and now it’s the def-facto choice for running containers on any platform. With devOps, tools are now streamlined with open source CI/CD options like Jenkins and monitoring via prometheus or cloud vendor supported devOps tools like Cloud Build, Cloud Pipeline ..

According to CNCF’s respondents, 96% of organisations are either using or evaluating Kubernetes.

where Kubernetes is starting to go “under the hood” and in my view, probably has a potential to expand and become the computing environment for not just platforms, but any device.
