My first production deployment of kubernetes was in 2016. We were evaluating whether to use Docker Swarm or kubernetes. Sharing an article from 2016, where I had summarised Kubernetes vs Docker Swarm and why Kubernetes was the choice of platform.

Kubernetes has come a long way and made things simplified, being adopted by all cloud providers and now it's the def-facto choice for running containers on any platform. According to CNCF’s respondents, 96% of organisations are either using or evaluating Kubernetes.

where Kubernetes is starting to go “under the hood” and in my view, probably has a potential to expand and become the computing environment for not just platforms, but any device.
